At the adventurous age of 18, Nancy Richardson left her hometown of Chicopee Falls, Ma. to find her own path. Her first stop was Colorado where she worked in the cable television industry, attended Denver Metropolitan State College to pursue her interest in computer science and accounting and began her first entrepreneurial endeavor as a seamstress. Knowing that true success can only be achieved by giving back, Nancy became a Big Sister to a 12 year old Mexican girl. Still feeling unsettled, Nancy spread her wings and ventured to Mississippi for a short time and then on to Wrightsville Beach, NC to answer the summon of the sea. A relationship moved her once more to Charleston, SC where she began her career in accounting while resuming courses in accounting/computer science at Trident Technical College. Tired of making someone else’s dreams come true, Nancy quit her J-O-B and embraced her entrepreneurial spirit again. She established Abacus Accounting in 1992 and successfully fills the needs of various small businesses throughout the lowcountry. In 2010, she founded Cooperative Mission, a charity that helps others with medical and living expenses. Her latest project, Pocket Liner, focuses on teaching others how to transform expenses into income. Stay tuned, Nancy has a few more ideas brewing.
